Morjim beach is in North Goa, next to Ashwem beach and the Chapora River. Morjim is famous as the nesting ground of the endangered Olive Ridley Turtle. There are many foreign tourists here. Most of them are from Russia, which is why Morjim beach is often referred to as “Little Russia”.

Morjim Beach is located in the northern part of Goa, 28.2 kilometers from the capital Panaji and 51 km from Dabolim Airport. It is 15.3 kilometers from Baga beach, another popular beach in North Goa, but this is in no way similar to Baga and the other busy beaches of the north. This is a quieter beach than the others in Goa’s north.

Morjim Beach is considered to be one of the most tranquil beaches of Goa, offering peace and serenity. Its a poet’s paradise which sky changing colors and sun setting in.

Things to Do in Morjim Beach

  • Morjim Beach is famous for Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. Spend time here enjoying these beautiful creatures. Giving food to them and disturbing them is not allowed. Tourists often click photos with these turtles.
  • It’s a peaceful beach and not the activity. Tourists like to spend lazy evenings and afternoons on the beach side shacks and sun beds. Local drink Feni and fresh coconut water are sought after in this place.
  • Morjim beach offers plenty of things to do apart from water sports adventures. Enjoy the beach with watching dolphins swimming in the deep sea, diving for seagulls, look out for water birds including beautiful kingfishers, kites and other species. Adventure sports is not much here due to the inhabitation of water animals.
  • Its a peaceful beach with lots of Russians inhabiting this beach and its surroundings. That is the reason why local eateries and restaurants sell a lot of Russian cuisine along with Goan food. Enjoy both of these cuisines. A lot of private beach sun beds, coco palms, Russian sports bar and beach touching restaurants can be found here. Its a clean beach and your rights are bound to keep it clean.
